Established in 2013, Apidura ('Api’, for bee, and ‘dura’, for durable) are an independent, family run business of cyclists, makers and problem solvers, brought together by a shared mission to create the best possible technical bikepacking products that help adventurous cyclists find better ways to explore the world by bike.
Apidura was born from necessity; pioneering ultralight, rackless packing systems to help take their love of cycling further and allow riders to unlock their instinct for adventure. As devoted adventure cyclists, Apidura design with fellow riders in mind, creating products that address genuine needs and bring new value to the bikepacking scene.
Making technical packs that excel in challenging conditions means that everything Apidura do, from the way they design their products to the structure of their business and the ways they support the global bikepacking community is driven by products, practices and philosophies that are Built to Last.
There are any number of brands when it comes to bike bags and luggage but it has taken us here at 700, a little while to commit to one. The reasons are multi faceted; the market in the UK is relatively young for one and it behoves us to take our time to get it right - as we try to do with all our product selections, but it's more than that.
Our recent look inward, as mentioned in the blog at the beginning of 2023, has changed the way we approach our business, cycling and the planet as a whole. To this end, we are actively seeking brand partners that deliver not only quality product, but whose ethos is similar.
Apidura tick all the boxes.
Their focus is on creating products that drive the sport forward with designs that are purpose-driven and inspired by a user-first mind-set and a ‘less is more’ design philosophy. Function dictates the design process, each product needs to provide a solution for the unforgiving environments and conditions in which cyclists use them. They make no concessions for fashion and don’t release ‘seasons’, focusing instead on evergreen designs and continuous incremental improvement.
We stand against impulse consumption, aggressive marketing and waste.
TORI FAHEY/ APIDURA CO-FOUNDER
It's hard to find weakness in any of their carefully considered product range - they are driven to solving genuine problems with technically advanced product in a sustainable manner. This we like. Tech: Check. Environmentally considerate: Check.
What this ultimately results in is functional, performance-forward products that endure, with minimal waste and impact on the environment. Indeed, their focus on sustainability is evident from their approaches to product materials and packaging, with the use of 100% recycled or fully recyclable materials:
– plant-based plastics
– recycled/recyclable cardboard and paper
– biodegradable plastics and composites
– recyclable plastics
– reusable shipping bags
This is why here at 700, after careful consideration (so you don't have to), we have chosen APIDURA as our brand partner for Bike Packing, Gravel and Adventure bags. Quality and approach both enduring.
