2025 Pinarello DOGMA X Disc FRAME KIT : G140 : XOLAR SEA

Season:2025

There has long been the need to deliver top-end performance to the masses. As much as many of us would love to ride the Pinarello Dogma F, we are just are not built for it, our sedentary jobs and love of pastries often standing between us and our dream bike.

Not only that, but not all of us are built the same. I have a build much like most women: long legs and relatively short torso. While this has been of great benefit to my sock and stocking modelling career, my increasingly inflexible back married to the ever more aggressive Dogma F series' frames, has seen me shun the marque in favour of more upright and shorter frames in recent years. Indeed, had I known about the X, I may have pressed paused on my recent purchases!

The new DOGMA X is more than just a high-end endurance bike. Pinarello have effectively redefined what Endurance performance means.
When we think 'endurance' there is often the pigeon-holing of bikes into a category that sits below 'Premium'. This is largely a fair summation since to build endurance bikes, it has often been at the expense of outright performance. More compliant grades of carbon or more flexible frame design to drive comfort, are infact sub-optimal when measured against outright speed - for the most part.

It has taken over a decade for a manufacturer to really consider how to maximally drive both comfort and performance (a function of emerging tyre and wheel tech as much as anything); to deliver something that is less of a step down, but rather simply an option. A side step.

And that is effectively what a DOGMA X is. An endurance option. A fit option.
It remains quintessentially DOGMA, and most definitely Pinarello. Fasuto insists.

We could write about all of the individual aspects of the Dogma X but it seems superfluous as that info is out there in our write up of the Dogma F, the X sharing most everything that defines the F, from carbon layup to aerodynamics and bottle placement.

Rather then, we will focus on the differences between F and X.

The Dogma X features a brand new ENDURANCE geometry. This is not to be confused with the ENDURANCE + geometry of the Dogma X derived 'X-Series'. The ENDURANCE geometry, positions the Dogma X between a Dogma F and an F-Series frame, keeping it frame firmly in the performance arena.

Shorter and taller by degrees, a 53cm Dogma X is 3.9mm shorter and 15.4mm taller than the equivalent F, keeping the bike racy but more accommodating for long rides or those with short torsos, or with lower flexibility.

It isn't however a high-modulus sofa, it is still a rapid race machine, just one that we can all get on board with. There is a need for it as well.

In recent years we have seen a trend towards 'maximum stack' and shorter reach stems (both of which negatively effect handling and control), often against the advice of bike fitters when consumers are dead-set on a specific bike. This is born out by the numbers: taking only Pinarello stems sold online, we are moving far higher numbers of 80 and 90mm stems than the historically popular 100 and 110mm. To back this up, Pinarello UK are selling significanty more short Talon Ultra bar/stem combos as customers try to get comfortable on the more aggressive and race focused Dogma F.
The entrance of the Dogma X is timely.

Along with the more widely accessible fit, Pinarello have made a significant change to the rear of the Dogma X.

New X-STAYS straddle the rear wheel and are mounted to the seat tube in two locations, the face of the bridge featuring a crossed lattice-like structure forming an X - from where they get their name. The design maximises lateral stiffness and enhances comliance will maintaining reactiveness from power applied at the bottom bracket.

The stays themselves are the thinnest of any ever employed by Pinarello. The curved top stays feature a carbon lay-up that allows for their reduced diameter and deliver incredible compliance married to race-like stiffness, while the flex inherent with elongation of the chainstays is tempered by the x-shaped bridge insert, helping maintain direct power transfer. The double attchment of the upper stays to the seat-tube offer two points of energy dissipation, reducing the vibrations likely to reach the rider.

To further enhance the comfort of the rear end, indeed the ride as a whole, Pinarello have taken full advantage of the latest innovations in wheel and tyre technology. When it comes to balancing speed and control on varying terrain, tyre clearance is king. To that end the Dogma X has clearance for 35mm tyres, optimising comfort and speed on the toughest par cours.

As with all Dogma before it, the X is fundamentally Pinarello. Fausto has been insistent that his bikes should have a recognisable and signature 'Pinarello ride feel', and so it is with the Dogma X. The ride, while more comfortable than the F, is essentially the same. Racy, agile, balanced and stable to boot.

Dogma X is everything you've always wanted in a dream bike, and now it's accessible without the need for maximum spacer count and short stems, so you can be assured of greater stability and optimal handling.
