Kask ELEMENTO Helmet : Black

Season:2023

Brand:Kask

Code:CHE00101.210.

At first glance of the new Kask ELEMENTO road cycling helmet, you might be fooled into thinking that you are looking at a Protone. Given that the Protone is the company's biggest selling helmet and that the silhouette and design lends itself well to delivering an excellent balance of the key elements that make for a great cycling helmet - you would be forgiven.

But the new Elemento is much more.

Aimed at elite athletes competing in the world’s best road, cross-country, cyclocross, and gravel events, as well as cyclists who are driven by the quest for the best possible experience and benefit, the new Elemento from Kask aims to deliver the ultimate in performance across critical aspects of aerodynamics, ventilation, comfort and of course, safety. More than that though - the Elemento is highly innovative and sets new standards for helmet construction.

The new Elemento has been developed with an uncompromising approach. The remit, to build the ultimate all-round performance-forward helmet. To this end, Kask have looked at new methodologies and have employed the latest technology to create the Elemento.

The two key development features that separate the Elemento are Fluid Carbon 12 and Multipod.

Fluid Carbon 12 is a new composite technopolymer that absorbs more energy in the case of an impact. This addidtional strength has enabled Kask to increase the size of the internal air channels resulting in dramatically improved ventilation. This improvement to the internal air-flow has facilitated a simultaneous reducion in the size of the externally expressed ventilation holes. The resultant change to the ventialtion efficiency and external form, has also led to improved aerodynamics without compromising comfort. In addition to the performance benefits, this also creates a reduced on-the-head silhouette, with the Elemento presenting a close and discreet form when worn.

Multipod is a KASK-designed structure that is 3D-printed and used in the Elemento’s internal padding. It's energy dissipating characteristics enable the Elemento to better withstand linear and rotational impacts and has isotropic properties that ensure it behaves consistently, no matter which direction the force is applied. In addition to the already class leading WG11 'Rotational Impact' testing protocol (that exceeds that of MIPS), the Elemento delivers unrivalled safety and protection should the worst happen.

Many of the technologies and features of other Kask helmets: Octofit+ (Protone Icon), HyVent (Valegro) In-Moulding Tech, Hi-Viz and Merino Wool; are present in the Elemento and deliver a familiar fit and feel while being enhanced for the ultimate expression of comfort, performance and safety.

"The Elemento features a revolutionary, new design with advanced technologies to deliver the very best safety and thermal comfort no matter what you ride: road, cross-country, cyclocross, or gravel (or all four). Designed in collaboration with the INEOS Grenadiers Cycling Team, the Elemento is aimed at professional and semi-professional athletes. Expect new standards in terms of aerodynamics, ventilation, and performance; expect nothing short of a revolutionary helmet for training and racing."

  • KASK WG11 ROTATIONAL IMPACT TEST

WG11 is a rigorous protocol for helmet testing specifically targeted at measuring the impact of rotational forces on a headform during a crash. This is the methodology adopted by Kask for their helmet testing and the Impact conditions are based on real accident data. This approach yields properly informative data that guides construction.

Most of the tests on helmets that use rotational impact prevention technologies (like MIPS) are carried out using headforms whose coefficient of friction is much higher than those of a human skull and therefore do not reflect reality.

The "pass-fail" criterion is based on the BrIC value, an algorithm that defines the level of brain injury. This value must be less than 0.68.

    The final test protocol is:

    OBLIQUE IMPACT TEST
    Oblique tests @ 45°, impact speed 6 m/s, BrIC < 0.68
+ grade 80 closed-coat aluminum oxide abrasive paper
+ headform nominal coefficient of friction 0.3
    + wireless system: triaxial accelerometer + n. 3 ARS
    Headform: EN960 series

    Measurements:
Peak of rotational acceleration, Peak of linear acceleration, HIC, BRIC (< 0.68)

ALL Kask helmets successfully pass this test, with values that are never above a BrIC 0.390
